Track 03. Time goes by so slowly for those who wait // No time to hesitate (Madonna – 'Hung Up')

He couldn’t have been more than eight years old and his clothes were loose and baggy, causing his sleeves to slip down over his small hands. He dropped down on the step beside Flynn and proceeded watch him with big brown innocent eyes. Flynn nearly shrunk back under the intense gaze, but hid his discomfort by putting his cigarette to his lips again. “Smokes make your bum drop off, you know,” the tiny voice soon declared.

Flynn blinked, the words giving him no choice but to look at the boy. In any other circumstance, he probably would’ve laughed, but everything just felt so heavy right now. Instead, he gave the boy a faint hint of a smile. “Who told you that, buddy?” he asked, the curiosity getting the better of him.

(  “Remy.” The boy peered up at Flynn for a moment and then after a second of consideration, snaked his tiny hand into Flynn’s larger one... )
